Bio
Dr. Sumant N Shinde has been an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at MITWPU (formerly known as MIT) since 2005. With a strong industrial background of 3 years and teaching experience of 17 years, he is a knowledgeable and experienced educator. Dr. Shinde received his Bachelor's degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad and Masters in Structural Engineering from M I T Pune.
He is dedicated to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and his areas of expertise include Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Concrete Technology, Advanced Concrete Technology, Theory of Plates and Shells, and Safety Practices in Construction Industry.
Dr. Shinde has also represented the University of Pune in the "Avishkar- 2010" state level research project competition. His research project, "Fibre Reinforced Blended Concrete Beams in Shear," was funded by the University of Pune. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune under the guidance of Dr. Mrudula S. Kulkarni. He has published 10 research papers in international journals, 04 research papers in international conferences, and one research paper in a national conference.
His research interests include fibre reinforced concrete composite in blast-resistant design, Ferrocement Technology, and Precat Construction. Dr. Shinde has guided more than 30 UG and PG students and has done testing and consultancy of 1.25 Lakh till today. He also holds one Indian patent published and one Australian patent granted.
