Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC)

The Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) is a separate building, named ‘Agastya’, which has the area of 3056 sq.m (Basement + 6 Floors). The library supports teaching, learning, research and the vision of the university. The library is operational for twelve hours and this facility is extended during the exam period. It has an enormous collection of resources to support all programs under the university. It has a dedicated reading space, discussion rooms, and faculty space, all together with a total seating capacity of more than 2000.

The library practices open access system which facilitates users to visit, browse the collection, read, refer and borrow the books. KRC follows Dewey decimal classification system and books are arranged according to subject for easy access.  The library housekeeping operations are carried out with the help of open source Integrated Library Management Software ‘KOHA’.  The library is equipped with Wi-Fi facility and CCTV for monitoring. The OPAC facility to browse the catalogue is provided on each floor. The library has an automated circulation system for transaction count and user tracking system to monitor the footfall. The library also provides reading facilities for differently abled users e.g., visually and hearing impaired.

KRC Rules & Regulations

General Rules

  • KRC is open throughout the year except for Sundays and University Holidays from 8.00 to 20.00 Hours and Saturday from 8.00 to 18.30 hours.
  • University I Card is mandatory to visit the KRC. The same will be treated as membership card.
  • KRC is a Silent Zone. Students must maintain silence all the time.
  • Keep mobile sets on silent mode when you are in the KRC premises.
  • Eatables are strictly prohibited.
  • Users can avail Reprography Facility on payment basis.

Membership Rules

  • All students, faculty members and staff of MIT-WPU are members of KRC.
  • The tenure of student’s membership is valid only up to the completion of the course.
  • The membership is also provided to MIT-WPU Alumni on payment basis.

Circulation Rules

  • Students are permitted to borrow five books for the period of fifteen days.
  • For renewals, books have to physically present to KRC and renewal is allowed if no reservations/claim against those books.
  • Reference books, bound volumes, journals are not lent out of the KRC.
  • Books in damaged condition will not be accepted from the reader.
  • Loss of books should be immediately reported to the Librarian. The member shall either replace the books of same edition or pay the cost of the book as per current market price.
  • Borrowing facility can be withdrawn in case of any kind of misbehavior.

Digital Library Rules

Circulation Rules

  • Electronic resources includes e-journals, e-databases, e-books and open access material.
  • These resources can be browsed, may be downloaded and used as per publisher’s policy. Downloading or printing of a complete book or an entire issue or a volume of one or more journals (called systematic downloading) is strictly prohibited.
  • Any violation of this policy will result in penal action and block to the entire community of users at university from accessing those particular resources.
  • KRC subscribes E-Resources directly through the publishers and authorized vendors as per eSS Consortium. The terms and conditions for using these resources are indicated in electronic resource license agreements with each publisher. It is the responsibility of individual users to ensure that the use of these resources does not breach the terms and conditions specified in the license agreements.


Digital Library

The library has a dedicated section for Digital Library consisting of 70 nodes to enable students to access information for their academic requirements. To access all digital resources the library provides PCs, LAN switches, Wi-Fi connectivity for personal laptops and other devices under the concept of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). It also provides access to free/open source e-resources like National Digital Library of India (NDLI), e-PG Pathshala, NPTEL, SWAYAM, Shodhaganga, Project Gutenburg, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journal), DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books). It has an institutional membership of DELNET for document delivery services to all users. The library also uploads the university theses to Shodhaganga INFLIBNET

Welcome to the Knowledge Resource Centre (Central Library) of MIT World Peace University! Home to the best study centre on campus, the KRC is proud to offer a variety of services to enhance the students learning experience and support the academic vision and mission of the University.
KRC is having an extensive and diverse collection of academic resources, providing a wide range of physical and electronic resources to support teaching, learning, research and discovery.
In addition to physical collection, the KRC subscribes to digital resources like E-books and E- journals foster the students and faculty members to access resources across the campus. Located in the heart of campus, the KRC is uniquely situated to serve as a hub for studies and research activities. It offers multiple spaces to study in solo or in groups whichever is conducive to suit the needs of the students, faculty members and research scholars. The digital library has dedicated computers for students to work for their projects and research wherein they can access to all the subscribed resources. KRC offers cutting edge technology and world class facilities with dedicated Wi-Fi and CCTV camera security system installed at each floor with seating capacity of around 1500 students. Our KRC team is committed to strengthening the learning and research initiatives on the campus to collectively support the success of our students, faculty, and alumni. Events

The Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) is all set for a fresh start in 2024, having undergone renovations to better serve the needs of students, faculty, and research scholars. The newly refurbished "Agasthya" building is now exclusively dedicated to the university library, offering cutting-edge services and facilities. With reading collections spread across multiple floors, including designated reading halls accommodating up to 1200 students, the KRC provides ample space for study and research. Additional amenities such as separate discussion rooms, a digital library, and robust security measures ensure a seamless and secure experience for all users. The KRC team, along with visionary top management, remains committed to realizing the university's vision and mission, inviting everyone to make the most of this enhanced facility.

International Conference on KNOWLEDGE ORGANISATION IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES was organized under the theme “Innovative Technology and Applications for Sustainable Library Services”. This International Conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, World Famous Eminent Scientist and Educationist of India, Former Chancellor, Nalanda University, Bharat. Guest of Honour of this ceremony was DR. M. Sasikumar, Executive Director, C-DAC, Mumbai. This program was held under the leadership and guidance of Founder President Revered Prof Dr.Vishwanath D Karad Sir. He was present in the inaugural function at Saint Dnyaneshwar Hall, MIT World Peace University, Pune.

Marathi Bhasha Divas & Science Day Celebration Knowledge Resource Centre celebrated Marathi Bhasha Divas on 27 th February 2024 & Science Day on 28 th February 2024. Book Display was arranged at KRC Building. Faculties and Students of the University visited for the event.

The Knowledge Resource Centre (Central Library) organized Communication Skills session under Staff Development Program in continuation with celebration of International Women’s Day on 20 th March 2024 at Agastya building for ladies staff of the university. The resource person for the session was Prof. Ms. Shweta Deshpande, Assistant Professor, School of Business.

The Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) after renovations started its new journey. Library Tour was organized for all the stakeholders of the University to maximize the use of all resources and the facilities e.g. Multiples reading spaces, discussion rooms, conference room, well equipped digital library. Students of all disciplines visited along with faculty members and provided positive feedback.

KRC Subscribed to 22 Electronic Databases which can be accessible within the university premises. To make familiar with these resources and increase the utilization, periodic orientation was organized with the help of publishers and the demonstration was delivered branch wise.
