Energy

In an era marked by rapid industrialization and transformative shifts in lifestyle, the demand for energy has surged exponentially. This paradigm shift is further compounded by profound demographic changes, where an ever-increasing portion of the global population gravitates towards urban living. It is imperative to recognise that energy serves as the bedrock upon which a nation's progress and economic development are built.

At MIT-WPU, an assembly of dedicated researchers is fervently engaged in addressing the multifaceted challenges within the energy sector. Our university is committed to establishing cutting-edge institutes and centres of excellence, each meticulously tailored to cater to specific domains within the energy landscape. This strategic approach ensures that our research endeavours are not only innovative but also precisely targeted, propelling us towards a future powered by sustainable and efficient energy solutions.

Centre for Subsea Engineering Research (CSER)

The subsea engineering research centre has been developed and established at the MIT-WPU campus in Pune, where subsea architecture has been simulated and scaled down to field dimensions in its operational form in this laboratory. This is a unique corporate social responsibility project undertaken by Aker Solutions. The aim of the established centre is to create a world-class, state of the art prototype working system to conduct and demonstrate the deep-water offshore production operations.

Artificial Intelligence
Our vision at IoAI is working towards advances in artificial intelligence, which will benefit society, provide skilled employment, and deliver significant economic growth.
  • Building ambitious new MIT-WPU AI capability
  • Growing the MIT-WPU AI research and innovation capacity in a sustainable way
  • Achieving positive economic, societal, and environmental impact through growth of the sector and wider adoption of AI that works for everyone
  • Enabling adventure and creativity in AI research and innovation

Bio Resources
The School of Biology at MIT-WPU is a comprehensive academic unit with broader scope that encompasses diverse areas from molecular and cell biology to highly interdisciplinary areas like Biotechnology, Biological engineering, and Nano-biotechnology.

Our emphasis is to foster interdisciplinary research and graduate training partnerships in human health, plant science related fields and developing technology in these fields. The research laboratories are highly equipped with instrumentation facilities and include Microbial Culture laboratory, Animal Tissue Culture laboratory, Bioanalytical laboratory, Electrochemical Analysis set-up.

The School has received research grants from government funding agencies, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Department of Science and Technology (DST), DRDO, ICMR among others.

Materials and Manufacturing
Institute of MSE at MIT-WPU Engineering is taking up research projects where faculty from different departments including Polymer and Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Engineering are working with students on current challenges in materials faced by industry and society.
Materials and Manufacturing

Our motivation here is to find material related problems faced by industry particularly relevant to India and develop innovative, cost effective and sustainable solutions.

Environment and Sustainability
Environment and Sustainability
Overcoming the grand societal challenges of our time will require new thinking and new knowledge. That is the strategy being adopted at MITWPU. We are living through a period of unprecedented environmental change.

Energy is the backbone of a nation, which can be a critical factor in the development of its economy.

At MIT-WPU, researchers are working on research problems across the energy domain. Institutes and centres of excellence would be setup, which would cater specifically to a particular domain.

Several projects are also being developed at the organisational level, looking at how we:

  • Use energy and materials
  • Procure goods and services with better environmental credentials
  • Manage our sites for biodiversity
  • Improve the impact of the research and innovation we fund.
