Dr. Arunabh Pandey - faculty At MIT-WPU, Pune

Bio

Dr. Avadhoot Bhosale is an esteemed assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at MIT WPU, where he has been teaching since September 2021. With a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Shivaji University in 2007, a Master's in Structural Engineering from NIT Rourkela in 2012, and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from NIT Rourkela in 2018, Dr. Bhosale has extensive knowledge in his field. His research interests include Structural/Earthquake Engineering, Structural Reliability, Vertical Irregularities, Masonry Structures, and Performance-based Design and Assessment Methods.

Dr. Bhosale has published numerous papers in prestigious ASCE and ACI engineering journals and is currently working on the Performance-based Design of RC Infilled Framed Buildings. His research on AAC block masonry is even referenced in the new draft commentary on IS1893:2016 developed by IIT Gandhi Nagar with the help of World Bank support. Dr. Bhosale teaches CVE 1001A (Applied Mechanics) and CE324 B (Advanced Construction Materials) for the undergraduate program. He received the Best Ph.D. Poster Presentation award from the Civil Engineering Department at Research Scholar Week, 2017, held at NIT Rourkela, Odisha. Additionally, he acted as a mentor for Team CESA, which was selected in the final round of Smart India Hackathon, 2019 Hardware editions.

Research Areas

My research focuses on eliminating the challenges of waste utilization and improving their performance in concrete pavements. My core research interest is to probe the microstructure of low carbon concrete by focusing on composition-microstructure-performance relationships in cement concrete and using the resultant changes in microstructure and phase composition to understand the long-term performance of the concrete pavement.
