Advanced Functional Materials-Current Research, Innovation and Applications

The Department of Chemistry, at Dr Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, is organizing an on-line Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Advanced Functional Materials-Current Research, Innovation and Applications” between 10 th -14 th June 2024. Advanced functional materials (AFMs) represent a foundation of modern technological advancements, offering unparalleled versatility and performance across a myriad of applications. These materials, designed with tailored properties to fulfil specific functions, have revolutionized industries ranging from electronics and energy to healthcare and environmental sustainability. This Faculty Development Programme (FDP) aims to equip participants with cutting-edge knowledge, tools, and advanced techniques in functional materials and material science. It offers an opportunity for attendees to engage with prominent scientists and technologists, drawing from their extensive expertise to elevate teaching, research, and mentorship standards within their institutions. This interdisciplinary programme spans across various branches of science and technology.

This FDP will cover the following topics:

Module 1: Advanced Functional Materials: Introduction, Synthesis and Characterization

Module 2: Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology for Advanced Applications

Module 3: Functional Polymer Materials

Module 4: Functional Materials for Energy Harvesting and Storage

Module 5: Computational Modelling of Advanced Functional Materials

Module 6: Innovation to Technology Transfer

The Department of Chemistry at MIT-WPU is committed to unwavering dedication to excellence in both chemistry education and research. Our primary goal is to strengthen the core principles of chemistry by seamlessly integrating theoretical concepts with hands-on experience, ensuring a holistic approach to learning. Moreover, we actively pursue pioneering research in various branches of chemistry, constantly striving for the highest standards of achievement in all our endeavours. The department offers three programmes:

    • BSc (Hons.) Chemistry -a four-year programme as per NEP 2020, with specialization in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry.
    • MSc Chemistry (Industrial Polymer Chemistry).
    • PhD in Chemistry.
