Profile

Dr. Gopal Sakarkar earned his Master's degree in 2006 and completed his Ph.D. in 2017 from S.G.B. Amravati University, Amravati. With over 18+ years of experience in teaching and research, he currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Applications at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, Pune, India. Under his mentorship, five research scholars have successfully been awarded their Ph.D. degrees.

Dr. Sakarkar serves as an External-Academic Board of Study Member at Government Polytechnic College in Nagpur, Sadabai Raisoni Science College, Nagpur and the Computer Applications Department at HVPM College in Amravati. His responsibilities include shaping and developing academic programs and curricula.

As an advocate for fostering creativity and high-order thinking skills, he actively mentors doctoral research scholars, and four scholars are pursuing PhD under his guidance. He has published over 80+(35 International Conference 44+ International Journal) research papers across various international platforms, encompassing Q1:04, Q2:04, Q3:01, Q4:05, SCI:03, ESCI:01, WoS:18, Scopus: 27, and 3 UGC Approved Journals in the realm of international journals, as well as Springer-06, ELSEVIER-5, IEEE-14, AIP-01 conferences within the domain of international conferences. His contributions have garnered over 705+ citations on Google Scholar, with an impressive h-index of 12 and an i10 index of 15, in addition to 300+ citations in Scopus with a notable h-index of 7 with 49 articles .

Notably, Dr. Sakarkar has filed/published 11 and 01 Granted patents and seen 3 copyrights granted by the Government of India. He has authored 6 textbooks on AI and Machine Learning, one of which was published by NOVA Science Publisher in the USA, and has contributed two book chapters published in Springer Nature and Taylor and Francis publications.

His distinguished career further includes collaborating on various projects with esteemed international researchers such as Dr. Gan Hong Seng of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Malaysia, Dr. Siti Sophiayati Yuhaniz of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Dr. Filbert Juwono of Curtin University, Dr. Luciano Oliveira of IVision Research Lab, Brazil, and Dr. Juan Correa of CESA Business School, Bogotá, Colombia, alongside Dr. Saaveethya Sivakumar of Curtin University, Malaysia.

His remarkable achievements have earned him accolades, including the "Best Teacher Award- 2019" in recognition of his pivotal role in establishing the Center of Excellence in AI and Machine Learning. He was also honoured with the "Best Research Paper Award" at various International Conferences, he received a Certificate of Appreciation from NPTEL for his exceptional mentorship in the course "Introduction to Machine Learning," where he successfully guided 189 students during the session of Jul-Dec 2021.
