MIT World Peace University believes in “Quality education and a successful career is the fundamental right of every student”. International Collaboration Department (ICD), a dedicated department at MIT-WPU, makes collaboration possible by creating a global network of educational institutions.
The key objective of ICD is to create a wide range of opportunities for the students and faculties to gain knowledge and awareness of various cultures across the globe, and to access global opportunities in the form of student & faculty exchange programmes, internships, and twinning & exchange programmes. International Programmes
01Global Academic Immersion Programme (GAIP)
A Global Academic Immersion Programme (GAIP) is a form of short-term (typically 1-2 weeks) experiential education programme provided by MIT-WPU, Pune together with our international partner university, usually during the second last semester of the student’s academic cycle.
Through GAIP we offer our students international exposure in the form of academic engagement, international exhibitions, international conferences, or cultural festivals. This experiential learning exploratory programme is usually a non-credit engagement, however some of our programmes are also crafted to provide academic credits as well. It constitutes of three below mentioned benefits: -
The International Collaboration Department organizes regular global academic immersion programmes for its students fostering opportunities to broaden learning and deepen knowledge within the global learning ecosystems. These immersions involve visits to world-class Universities & Institutions providing engaging, innovative, and enlightening experiences to the students. Over the years, MIT WPU has gained expertise in taking large student cohorts on international immersion programmes and has taken one of India’s largest student cohorts consisting of 5,000 students to a single-international event thereby democratising global academic immersion programmes.

02 International Semester Abroad/ Semester Exchange Programme
Broaden your global perspective through MIT-WPU's International Semester Abroad and Semester Exchange Programmes. Students have the opportunity to study at leading partner universities across the world, experience diverse academic environments, and gain valuable international exposure.
Semester Abroad/Exchange Programme: Study at a partner university under an exchange agreement, where tuition fees are generally waived at the host institution (subject to the terms of the partnership), while earning academic credits that may be transferred as per university guidelines.
These programmes provide students with global learning opportunities, cross-cultural experiences, international networking, and enhanced career prospects.
At the beginning of each academic year, our partner universities share the number of exchange students they can accommodate. Students are selected for these opportunities based on their academic merit.

03International Research Internship (University / Industry)
Undertake a semester-long research internship at a partner university or international industry under the guidance of a faculty member or industry mentor. The programme provides hands-on research experience, international exposure, and opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and cross-cultural skills.
04Helpdesk services for International Students
The International Collaborations Department (ICD), anchors international students into campus life and provides them assistance in maintaining balance between rigorous academic milestones, mandatory regulatory compliance, and high-impact cultural integration. ICD is engaged in various campus activities designed to optimize the international student experience, mitigate cultural shock, and showcase global diversity on campus.
Our department is committed to manage a comprehensive annual schedule designed to integrate foreign students into campus life through regulatory support and cultural engagement. During the Monsoon Semester, the focus is on onboarding logistics, such as visa facilitation and mentor allocation, alongside heritage trips and traditional festival celebrations. The Spring Semester shifts toward professional development, featuring a global food festival, career networking, and the election of student leadership.
To ensure a high quality of life, the university monitors key performance indicators like documentation accuracy and participation levels in social events. Ultimately, this strategic calendar aims to balance academic excellence with a deep immersion into India’s diverse traditions. Under the leadership of the Director International Collaboration, we continuously strive to eliminate cultural barriers while fostering a sense of global citizenship among the international cohort.
