Based on the vision of great philosopher Shri Swami Vivekananda, our founder Dr. Vishwanath Karad started the MIT Group of Institutions in the year 1983. With a rich legacy of imparting quality education for four decades, MIT PUNE is today known as Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune. MIT-WPU is a prestigious university of higher education in India, with a remarkable 40-year legacy dedicated to fostering excellence in academics, with an alumni network comprising over 1 Lakh+ professionals globally. MIT-WPU has consistently delivered outstanding educational outcomes. The university offers over 150+ Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph. D. programmes that are thoughtfully designed to strike a balance between theoretical foundations and practical applications. The pedagogical approach prioritises experiential learning, empowering students to translate knowledge into real-world skills. This is facilitated through immersive internships and invaluable mentor-mentee insights that serve as catalysts for personal and professional growth.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (DoEEE) at MIT-WPU stands at the forefront of technological innovation, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering. It is committed to excellence in education, research, and innovation in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE).
Engineers must pursue and develop their technical skills to benefit from the opportunities brought about by the globalised world. Engineers at DoEEE have historically made important contributions to technology and we are optimistic that our scientist-engineers will take the lead in technological growth in the not-too-distant future with the right guidance during formative years. The management’s approach to enriching the research ecosystem and its vision for the twenty-first century are evident at the MIT-WPU university campus.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (DoEEE) at MIT-WPU offers Three Undergraduate Programmes viz.
- B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering
- B.Tech Electrical and Computer Engineering
- B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)
In addition, the department provides more programmes for advanced studies:
- Two Postgraduate Programmes in VLSI and Embedded Systems and e-mobility
- Post Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Ph.D in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

IEEE Communications Society Pune Section
IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) is a professional society within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). It is one of the largest and most active societies within IEEE, focusing on the advancement of communication technology and networks. ComSoc covers a broad range of topics, including wireless communication, optical communication, network protocols, Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and beyond, cybersecurity, and multimedia communication.
IEEE Pune SectionPune, one of the largest urban agglomerations of India, is located in the western Indian State of Maharashtra. The city is one of the biggest industrial towns in India and an important educational, industrial, and cultural centre. Pune hosts several universities and well-known institutions, and research organisations. The city also houses a large number of industries in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Automobile, Electrical, Electronics, Forging, Foundries and other Engineering Industries. More than one hundred thousand skilled engineering professionals are working in and around this city. The strength of students studying in various disciplines in the city exceeds two hundred thousand.
IEEE Pune Section (R0 01 20) was established on 26 June 2010 with terrestrial boundaries confined to Pune Metropolitan City (Postal Code: 411001 to 411999). The Section falls under the jurisdiction of the Asia Pacific Region (R-10) of IEEE. Before that, it was a subsection of IEEE Bombay Section from 20 June 2003 till its formation. At present, the Pune Section has more than 2500+ members. There are 15+ societies and 24+ IEEE Student Branches in different Engineering Colleges in and around Pune City.
The Section interfaces with the industries and academia through various technical and humanitarian activities. It organises various activities throughout the year, which are helpful to the professional members as well as for the student community for their skill set upgradation. The Section and its student branches endeavour to contribute to the advancement of the knowledge of its community through activities that provide professional information exchanges and stimulate technological innovations. Meetings of the Section officers, interactions with the Student Branch Counsellors and representatives are held regularly to discuss the ideas and plans for activities.
