FAQs

A four-year engineering degree that integrates mechanical engineering, electronics, cyber security and artificial intelligence, applied to defence and aerospace systems.

Each of those branches covers one discipline broadly; Defence Technology combines all three and applies them to complete systems such as drones, radar, weapon systems and secure networks.

Weapons, propulsion, armour and drones are mechanical systems at their core, so Mechanical Engineering leads, with Electronics and Computer Engineering co-teaching.

No. Most graduates will work as engineers in defence and aerospace industry, DRDO, PSUs and start-ups, and the strong engineering foundation also suits automotive, robotics and electronics careers.

Weapon systems, propulsion, drones (UAVs), radar, cyber security, AI and robotics, with six specialisation tracks; 28 credits are hands-on projects, internship and a capstone build.

A flexible internship of 6 months/1 Year is available to do at DRDO labs, defence PSUs, private defence firms or start-ups, accomapined with industry visits to organisations such as DRDO, DIAT, BEL and HAL.

Design, manufacturing, testing, UAV, radar, embedded and cyber security roles at companies such as L&T, Bharat Forge, Solar Industries, Data Patterns, BEL, ideaForge and Tata Elxsi.

Yes. DRDO and DPSUs recruit through GATE or their own exams, and the Armed Forces offer technical entries; each notification lists the degree disciplines it accepts, so check it when you apply.

Yes, from the third year onwards. There is no separate Defence Technology paper, so you choose by specialisation: ME, EC, CS/DA, AE or XE.

M.Tech./MS or PhD at DIAT, IITs, IISc or universities abroad, or Junior Research Fellow positions on DRDO and sponsored defence projects.
