The Bharat Asmita National Awards serve as a platform to honor and celebrate the dedicated contributions of leaders in the fields of Management Education, Journalism & Mass Media, Science & Technology, Politics, and Lifetime Achievement. Recognizing that the driving force behind our nation's progress is the inspiration provided to the upcoming generation of Indian leaders, MAEER's MIT Group of Institutions, Pune is wholeheartedly committed to motivating young students by offering them the opportunity to interact with distinguished individuals who have left an indelible mark on society through their selfless endeavors. These awards are presented at the national level every year to commendable Indian nationals in the following categories:

Eligibility

Eligible Recipients:

The awards are open to living individuals in India, regardless of their race, creed, gender, caste, or ideology.

Nomination Process:

Only candidates recommended in writing by invited nominators, as described in Section 24 of this Code, will be considered for an award.

Nominators:

The privilege of submitting award nominations is extended to individuals outlined in Section 24 of this Code.

Self-Nomination:

Self-nominations will not be accepted or considered.

Period of Award

Award Frequency:

The awards will be presented annually, commencing with the 2005 awards on February 3, 2005, and on the same date each subsequent year. If it is deemed that none of the nominees merit recognition or that further investigation is required, the Committee may skip one or more awards in one or more categories for a given year.

Award Period:

Only achievements within the five years immediately preceding the award presentation will be considered. However, accomplishments from a period prior to these five years may be considered if their significance or impact has become evident within the period covered by the awards

Award Presentation

The Ceremony

Since their inception in 2005, these prestigious awards have been conferred by eminent personalities, including the Hon'ble Vice President Md. Hamid Ansari, the late Shri. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat (former Vice President), Shri. Somnath Chatterjee (Former Speaker of Loksabha), Shri K. G. Balakrishnan (then Chief Justice of India), and Dr. Vijay Kelkar (Former Chairman, Finance Commission), among other distinguished figures

Medal and Certificate

Each recipient will receive an award certificate and prize money during the formal award presentation ceremony.

Acceptance of Award

Awardees must confirm their acceptance of the award before formal announcements are made. If an awardee declines the award, the prize money will be returned to the Committee fund.

Public Lecture

Awardees may be requested to deliver a public lecture in Pune on a topic related to their award-winning achievement. The date of the lecture will be determined jointly by the Committee Members and the awardees and will usually be held within one week after the award presentation

Financing of the Awards :

Bharat Asmita National Awards Committee:

The Committee has been established with a corpus of INR 50 lakhs in funds to ensure the consistent delivery of awards year after year.

MAEER s MIT Group of Institutions will bear full responsibility for securing the funds required for award presentations in accordance with the sections described above.

Private contributors, sponsors, and well-wishers may also directly donate to the awards after consulting with the office of the Bharat Asmita National Awards Committee

General Provisions

  • Nomination Submission Deadline

    The Committee will consider nominations received in the office of the Bharat Asmita National Awards Committee by 03:00 p.m. on or before December 10th each year
  • Selection of Nominators:

    The Chairman of the Committee will annually propose prospective nominators for approval, selected in accordance with the provisions in Section 24 under this title. Past awardees and past Committee members are automatically qualified to submit nominations in any category.
  • Validity of Nominations:

    Only nominations received from invited nominators will be considered. Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient supporting documentation for meaningful evaluation. Re-nominations may be accepted. No Committee member can be nominated for the award, and nominators must keep nominations strictly confidential
  • Qualifications of Nominators:

    Nominators should ideally be individuals with professional expertise to recommend candidates for the award. They should possess extensive knowledge of noteworthy individuals or their work, understand significant development issues in their areas of work or national services, and have credibility in their community or field of expertise
    Additionally, the Bharat Asmita National Awards Committee will consider the following individuals as qualified to submit nominations:
    • Officers or faculty members in reputable institutes, colleges, and universities in various fields.
    • Officers of civil service bureaus or equivalent offices/agencies.
    • Leaders of specialized institutions addressing contemporary human development issues.
    • Practitioners in fields of socio-economic development, public administration, political science, literature, arts, international relations, applied natural and social sciences, and media.
  • Need for Translation

    If translating materials related to a nominee into English or Hindi requires considerable effort or expense for a full evaluation by the Committee, the proposal will be given further consideration only to the extent practicable

Selection of Awardees - Evaluation of Candidates

Criteria for Selection:

An award will only be granted for exceptional work, achievement, accomplishment, or performance within the defined categories, exemplifying the spirit, integrity, and dedication to development envisioned by the Bharat Asmita National Awards Committee and MAEER s MIT Group of Institutions, Pune, India

The award is not restricted to individuals holding high public offices or those whose actions have influenced large numbers of people. It may also recognise individuals who have quietly and selflessly helped others, without seeking public recognition, embodying the ideals practiced at MAEER s MIT Group of Institutions, Pune, India.

Final Selection:

Responsibility for Selection:
The Committee holds sole responsibility for the final selection of awardees.

Proceedings on Final Selection:
Deliberations on the final selection will not be made public or disclosed.

Protest:
The selection made by the Committee is final, and no protests against an award will be considered.
This Code was approved as amended on the fourteenth day of October, two thousand and five, in the city of Pune, Maharashtra, India.
