MIT-WPU Receives Prestigious ₹1.5 Crore ICMR Research Grant

MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, has been awarded a ₹1.5 crore research grant by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for a project focused on Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a leading cause of childhood blindness in premature infants.

The project is being led by Dr. Sucheta Kulkarni as Principal Investigator, along with Dr. Ranjana Agrawal and Dr. Sharmishta Desai from DCET, School of Computer Science & Engineering, MIT-WPU. The research initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with PBMA’s H. V. Desai Eye Hospital, Pune.

Aimed at the early detection and effective management of Retinopathy of Prematurity, the project seeks to improve neonatal eye care outcomes and contribute to the prevention of childhood blindness. By integrating expertise from healthcare and technology, the initiative highlights the transformative potential of interdisciplinary research in addressing critical medical challenges.
