Team Vishwashanti, STeRG: Triumphs at IN-SPACe CanSat Competition

Our Vishwashanti team from Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University participated in the final round of the National-level IN-SPACe CanSat Student Competition, competing against 28 teams in Ahmedabad from April 15 to 17, 2024. Led by the university and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the team underwent rigorous evaluation rounds since 2022, including the preliminary design review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Mission Readiness Review (MRR), and post-flight review.

The competition provided a vital platform for students to foster innovation, showcasing their talent and creativity, which are essential for preparing them for the challenges of the space industry.

Witnessing their satellite deploy at a height of 900 meters with the assistance of a drone was a remarkable experience for the team. Achieving its intact recovery in the final round further heightened its achievement.

Achintya Chaware and Shreerang Saranjame led the student team, supported by the advisors and mentors, Dr. Vinaya Gohokar, Dr. Apurva Naik, Dr. Raghunath Bhadade, Dr. Savitri Jadhav, and Dr. Anjali Askhedkar. This competition marks the beginning of the next generation of space enthusiasts, contributing to India's self-reliant space workforce.

We extend our gratitude to the IN-SPACe, ASI, ISRO, and MIT-WPU for this enriching opportunity. The competition was graced by S. Somanath, Secretary of DOS and Chairman of ISRO/President of ASI, and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe, who appreciated the team's successful launch and recovery of the CanSat.
