In a recent meeting, MIT World Peace University's Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed Whirlpool Corporation, Pune, to initiate a dialogue for an industry-academia collaboration. The Industry-Academia meeting was initiated by Prof. (Dr.) Kundlik V. Mali and co-ordinated by Prof. Ashish S. Utage and Prof. Heramb C. Phadake. Key attendees included Dr. Ganesh Kakandikar (Associate Dean, External Relations), Prof. (Dr.) Shivprakash Barve (Program Director of the Mechanical Department), Prof. (Dr.) Kundlik V. Mali (Program Coordinator of the Mechanical Department), and other senior faculty members. On the Whirlpool Corporation side, Mr. Prasad Bahulekar (Director, Engineering) and Senior Managers Mr. Vinay Chalniwe, Mr. Arvind Marhatta, Mr. Anil Kute, Mr. Pramod Dhawale, and Nitin Ghule.
The agenda focused on:
- MoU Establishment: Both institutions aim to formalize their commitment through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
- Lifetime Collaboration: A shared vision for a long-term partnership beyond specific projects.
- Curriculum Enhancement: MIT-WPU highlighted the importance of industry insights in enriching curriculum content.
- Continuing Education Programmes: Emphasis on organising regular visits by industry experts for active learning.
- This marks the beginning of a promising collaboration, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and industry for mutual growth and knowledge exchange.
