Dronacharya Sports Complex Inaugurated at MIT-WPU, Pune

MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, marked a defining moment in its sporting journey on 7th March 2026, with the grand inauguration of the newly constructed Dronacharya Sports Complex on its campus. The state-of-the-art sports facility was inaugurated at the august hands of Shri. Sanjay Seth, Hon'ble Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, in a ceremony that brought together sports, spirit, and a shared vision for a stronger, fitter India.

The ceremony was further enriched by the presence of sports legends, including Smt. Anjali Bhagwat, Olympic Shooting Champion, Shri. Abhijit Kunte, International Chess Grandmaster and dignitaries from MIT-WPU Pune, including Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder & Chief Patron, MAEER’s MIT, Pune & President, MIT World Peace University, Dr. Rahul V. Karad, Executive President, MIT-WPU Pune, and Dr. Prasad Khandekar, Chief Academic Officer, MIT-WPU Pune, along with faculty and students.

This sports complex is a landmark addition to MIT-WPU Pune's world-class campus infrastructure, which reaffirms the university's long-standing commitment to holistic education, athlete development, and sports excellence. The ceremony also felicitated MIT-WPU Pune's own international athletes, including Ms. Shreyasi Joshi, Ms. Anaya Bhavsar, Mr. Jinesh Nanal, and Ms. Yashaya Contractor, who were felicitated in recognition of their achievements on the global stage.

The Dronacharya Sports Complex at MIT-WPU, Pune, stands today not merely as an infrastructure milestone, but as a living declaration that the champions of tomorrow train today — bringing pride to Bharat by nurturing the discipline, leadership, and excellence that are vital for the nation's socio-economic progress.
