High-Speed flame imaging of Solid Rocket Propellant (SRP) in a LASER illuminated window bomb
This award winning project aimed to investigate the combustion behavior of Solid Rocket Propellants (SRPs), specifically focusing on the micro-scale phenomena occurring on the burning surface. By using a window bomb and high-speed cameras, the researchers were able to capture detailed images of the flame structure and determine the temperature profile of the burning surface.
This project has made significant contributions to the understanding of SRP combustion. The insights gained from this research can be applied to improve the design and performance of solid rocket propulsion systems.
