Bio
Dr. Vikas is a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is also a trained development sector professional from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, having an experience of field as well as working with Public Sector Unit – NTPC Limited. He employs an interdisciplinary approach and mixed- method framework to study the politics of marginalization in India. His work engages in examining the social, political and historical factors that accentuate the processes of alterity construction, stigmatization, exclusion, and how different social groups negotiate and counter diverse structural constraints.
Research Area
Political Sociology, Social Exclusion/Marginalization and Politics of Recognition, Inclusion and Justice; Development Sociology, Critical Phenomenology; Critical Caste Studies; and Sociology of Caste, Tribe and Inter-subjectivity with special reference to Dalit, Adivasis and De-notified and Nomadic Tribes of India.
