Dr. Sudhirkumar A. Shinde - faculty At MIT-WPU, Pune

Bio

Sudhirkumar Shinde earned his master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Shivaji University in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. Following this, he worked as a project assistant in the Controlled Release Technology group of the Polymer Science and Engineering division at the National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, India from 2003-2006. Shinde then received his Ph.D. in 2013 from the Technical University of Dortmund in Germany, where he worked with Professor Börje Sellergren in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. As a Ph.D. exchange fellow, he also worked in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, broadening his research interests to include polymers, molecular recognition, bioanalysis, and bio-interfaces for biomedical applications.

Shinde then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Biofilms Research Centre for Biointerfaces at Malmö University in Sweden from June 2013 to June 2018. During this time, he also spent time as a visiting scholar at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany, working with Professor Katrin Marcus in the Medizinische Proteom-Center Funktionelle Proteomik. Shinde was involved in several European Training Network projects, including NEMOPUR, PEPMIP, BIOCAPTURE, and GlycoImaging, which were funded by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action.

From June 2018 to September 2020, Shinde was a Swan Teaching Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the School of Consciousness at MIT World Peace University in Pune, India. His research interests include molecular imprinting, supramolecular chemistry, biomaterials, polymer chemistry, smart polymers for biomedical applications and bioprocesses, as well as functional and intelligent nanomaterials. Shinde has independently led more than 12 research projects and holds two patents. He has also published over 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers in top journals such as Angew. Chem., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Anal. Chem., ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, ACS Appl. Polym. Mater., Analyst, J. Chrom. A and B, Chem. Eu. J., Chem Eng J., among others.

Furthermore, Shinde has been involved in technology transfers and innovations, pitching two business ideas in the area of life sciences. He has won verification grants twice from Lund University Innovation Systems in Lund, Sweden, and contributed to developing commercial technology in the healthcare sector with a private US company. Shinde also serves as a reviewer for leading chemistry and materials chemistry journals.
