Prof. Shweta Hitesh Gade

Bio

Shweta Gade is an Architect and Industrial Product Designer. She is an esteemed alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, where she completed her advanced studies in Product Design (M.DES) in 2009 after her Bachelors in Architecture (B.Arch.) from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Currently she is pursuing Ph.D. in Design.

During her Master studies she has received awards for her projects and as a young designer she has gained recognition from design fraternity. Her expertise spans across various domains, including industrial design, design thinking, and design research.

She has academic teaching experience over 15 years as she has taught at various premier Design and Architecture institutes in Pune. In her academic capacity, she has conducted specialized master courses as a visiting faculty in product design, product ergonomics, form Studies and Design thinking and interior space and furniture design.

Before joining academia, she has worked in the industry as industrial designer and designed products in lighting and renewable energy domain. As an architect she has worked on residential and commercial interior design projects for more than 10 years as practicing freelance design consultant.

Her career trajectory is marked by a continuous integration of academic theory and practical design application. Her multidisciplinary approach allows her to address complex design challenges from both aesthetic and functional perspectives.

Through her teaching and mentorship, she emphasizes the importance of design thinking in solving real-world problems. Her work exemplifies the bridge between traditional design principles and modern industrial design practices. Beyond the classroom, she is a committed design researcher. She is known for mentoring students in design thinking and fostering innovation with design process and research-driven methodologies. Her students have shown excellence across various design domains by building careers and gaining national and international recognition. Through mentorship and curriculum development, she inspires the next generation of designers to approach problem-solving with both technical precision and creative empathy.
