Bio

Dr. Shubhangi Rastogi is an experienced academician and researcher with a background in Microbiology and Industrial Biotechnology. She holds a Master of Science in Biotechnology and a Ph. D. in Microbiology from Panjab University, Chandigarh. With more than 2 years of experience in industry and 1.5 years in research, her expertise lies in various aspects of bioprocesses, including biocatalyst development, microbial cultures, 2-G bio-ethanol production, probiotic formulation, and in-vitro drug development. She instructs undergraduate courses in industrial biotechnology, biochemistry, CMB, synthetic biology, and Bioprocess Engineering. In 2022, Dr. Rastogi was awarded with a DBT-BIRAC E-YUVA scale-up project focusing on bioethanol production. Her previous research delved into scaling up biocatalyst cocktail production and its application in biologically pretreating lignocellulosic residues for bioethanol generation. Presently, her research interests are centered around scaling up biocatalysts, especially ligno-hemicellulases, biological pretreatment of lignocelluloses, with a particular emphasis on rice straw, bioethanol synthesis, and the development of probiotics and yogurts.

Research Areas

Bioethanol, Biocatalyst, lignocellulosic residues, probiotics, and yogurts.
