Dr. Shailesh Varade - faculty At MIT-WPU, Pune

Bio

Dr. Shailesh Varade is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, Pune. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Process Modeling and Simulation, Process Calculations, Transport Phenomena, Mechanical Operations, and Advanced Transport Phenomena. He has also contributed to institutional initiatives through the Water and Wastewater Management and Research & Development Committee, promoting sustainable practices and innovation.

Prior to joining MIT-WPU, Dr. Varade served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Soft Matter (MMOI) Group at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides, Paris, France, where he worked on the FOAM-C project involving foam coarsening experiments aboard the International Space Station. His responsibilities included data analysis, project management, and the design of experimental setups to investigate the mechanical properties of liquid-liquid interfaces.

Dr. Varade earned his Ph.D. and M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Technology from Laxminarayan Institute of Technology. He also brings valuable industry experience from Almora Botanica, where he worked on cosmetic product formulation, product development, process scale-up, technology transfer, and regulatory compliance for international markets. His research interests span soft matter, foams, emulsions, rheology, colloid and interface science, surfactants, thin films, specific ion effects, process modelling and simulation, microgravity, and surface and intermolecular forces. At MIT-WPU, Dr. Varade is committed to fostering curiosity-driven learning by integrating research excellence with practical applications, equipping students with the analytical skills and industry exposure needed to address real-world engineering challenges.
