Bio
Dr. Sarika S. Patil is an accomplished academician and researcher with over 21 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Vision from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU, 2021), an M.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication from SPPU (2009), and a B.E. from Shivaji University (2003).
Since February 2026, she has been associated with MIT, Pune, where she teaches advanced subjects including Deep Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence Techniques and Applications, Machine Learning, and Engineering Mathematics to undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a strong focus on application-oriented learning.
Her current research focuses on the fusion of deep learning algorithms for disease analysis using medical images. She is also exploring deployment of AI models on edge and embedded systems to enable scalable and affordable healthcare solutions.
Dr. Patil has published 25+ research papers, including publications in SCI and Scopus- indexed journals and conferences. She is a recipient of the Best Paper Award at an IEEE International Conference (2020) and was recognized at AVISHKAR 2015 at zonal and university levels. She has also served as Principal Investigator for a funded research project on “Development of Security System Using Multimodal Biometrics” (SPPU) and has contributed to industry through consultancy projects in image analytics.
She actively contributes as a reviewer for reputed journals from publishers such as Elsevier and Springer. She has delivered multiple expert sessions and guest lectures under AICTE, ISTE, and MSBTE-sponsored Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), contributing to faculty training and knowledge dissemination in Image Processing and deep learning.
Her expertise spans computer vision, deep learning, NLP, and data science, with a strong commitment to bridging academic research and real-world applications.
