Bio

Dr. Samuel Jacob Kuruvilla is an Associate Professor at the WPU School of Liberal Arts. He completed his BA, majoring in Indian History (with minors in Economics & Political Science) from CMS College, Kottayam, followed by an MA in Politics & International Relations from the School of International Relations & Politics, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. He pursued his M.Phil in Diplomacy at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and obtained his Ph.D. in Religion & Politics from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. Previously, he served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the School of International Relations and Politics of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. Additionally, he received his Doctorate in Politics and Theology from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Kuruvilla's research interests primarily focus on West Asian Politics, the Israel-Palestine Conflict, and Indian Foreign Policy. His teaching experience encompasses Political Thought, Theory & International Relations, as well as various Area studies courses at both the Undergraduate & Postgraduate levels. He held the position of Visiting Fellow at the Manohar Parikkar Centre for Defense Studies and Analyses in New Delhi during the period January-April 2012. His life ambition is to write a history of the world from the perspective of the Global South.

Dr. Kuruvilla has over 10 years of experience as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Kerala and over 10 years of separate experience as an M.Phil/Ph.D/Post-Doctoral Researcher in various reputed universities in India & the United Kingdom.

1. I signed an Agreement with Routledge India (Taylor & Francis) to publish a Monograph (jointly with Dr. Zheer Ahmed, Assistant Professor, SOLA, WPU) titled ‘REVISITING THE ISRAEL-PALESTINE DISPUTE: CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN CRISIS.’ The first draft is to be submitted by 31 December 2024.
