Prof. Prasantanu MohapatraProfessor of Practice

Bio
Prasantanu Mohapatra is a Professor of Practice at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film School, MIT-WPU. He is the renowned Director of Photography for ‘Kerala Story’ and has been a part of the Indian film industry for over 35 years.
Mohapatra grew up toying with photography in a family-owned photo studio. Later he indulged in art and literature that drew him towards cinema that culminated in a degree from FTII (1992) with specialization in Cinematography. In between professional cinematography, he pursued teaching cinema as guest faculty across India, including at FTII.
Awards :
1.‘BREATHING WITHOUT AIR’, a short film as co-director won 2 Best Short Film Awards at New York and Paris in 2003.
2. Worked as a Cinematographer for several award winning films of National level :
‘NILAMADHABA’, the Biopic of Sunanda Patnaik, by Late Dilip Patnaik won National Award for Best Documentary in 2011.
‘HELLO ARSI’, the last noted Odia film by Sambit Mahanty bagged 3 National Awards in 2018.
‘ANUKAMPAN’ by Balaka Ghosh, won National Awards as Best Cultural Film in 1993.
Diploma Film ‘AAMUKH’ won 1991 National Film Awards for Short Film on Social Issue.
