Bio
Dr. Parineeta Das has completed her doctoral study at National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland). Her doctoral study focused on dendrimers, the emerging polymeric architectures having several interesting features suitable for application in many diverse fields including biomedical field. She has synthesized this polymeric architecture following the green synthetic protocols. It included designing dendritic architectures, green organic synthesis, antimicrobial, biological studies, isotherm study and computational toxicology. During her doctoral study, she has also worked as a Junior Research Fellow on the project entitled “Study of Non-edible Plant-Oils of North-East: Extraction, Compositional Characterization and Analysis for Industrial Applications” funded by North Eastern Council (NEC) in the Dept. of Science and Humanities (Chemistry), National Institute of Technology Nagaland. She has chosen this project because of the alarming concern of alkyd resins from non-renewable resources which have drawbacks such as environmental pollution, depletion of petroleum resources and even a rise in the price of petroleum-based products. In contrary, various plant seed oils are used in the production of polymers due to its renewability, biodegradability, easy availability and its cost-effective properties. The synthesized alkyd resins from the seed oils showed great potential applications in the field of paints, adhesives, coatings, and beneath water marine vessel finish that opposes salt corrosion. She has the experience of water quality survey and detection of various metal ions present in water and its elimination from it. She has given 7 oral and 2 poster presentations related to all her research work at several national and international conferences till date. She has published 5 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and 2 book chapters. She has attended various workshops, short term courses and faculty development programme. She pursued her post-graduation (M. Sc) in Chemistry, specialization in Physical Chemistry from Gauhati University and completed her graduation from Sibsagar Girls’ College, Dibrugarh University. Her research area of interest includes Polymer Science, Biopolymers, Biocatalyst, Dendrimers, Green organic synthesis, Anticorrosive coating, Biodiesel, Computational Toxicology.
