Bio

Neelam Pandit is a distinguished expert with over 20 years of experience in urban, rural, and tribal community development. She brings strong grassroots knowledge in livelihood promotion, capacity building, networking, program planning, and implementation for vulnerable communities. She currently heads MITWPU’s flagship Rural Immersion Program, connecting students with real-world community development challenges.

Asst. Prof. Pandit has led successful initiatives such as achieving water self-sufficiency for Village Naroli through a watershed conservation project and spearheading the 'Know Your Constitution' program, which has educated over 75,000 citizens on the Indian Constitution. Her expertise spans community organization, social justice, women’s political empowerment, and sustainable resource management, with influential publications on these topics, including Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's philosophy on water resource management.

Beyond academia, she is a social activist and community leader, serving as Vice President of Yuvak Kranti Dal, Pune, and formerly as President of the Maharashtra Human Rights Council under the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Through her teaching, research, and field engagement, Asst. Prof. Pandit is committed to empowering communities, fostering informed citizenship, and promoting sustainable, equitable development.
