Dr. Namrata Sathe

Bio

Dr. Namrata Sathe is an Assistant Professor at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Institute, MIT-WPU. She holds a PhD in Media Studies from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Her book, The Neoliberal Self in Bollywood: Cinema, Popular Culture, and Identity (Intellect Books, 2024), examines the consequences of unbridled expansion of neoliberal values within India through the lens of popular film and culture. Her scholarship has been published in prominent academic journals including Jump Cut, Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, and New Review of Film and Television Studies, as well as in edited collections on Indian cinema and media. She serves as the Assistant Editor for the SCOPUS-listed academic journal Studies in South Asian Film and Media . Her research interests include feminist media studies, queer studies, sexuality studies, and popular culture.
