Bio

"Dr. Mrudula S. Kulkarni is a Professor of Civil Engineering and Dean of Student Affairs. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Biomechanics. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Master's degree in Structures from Pune University. Dr. Kulkarni's areas of expertise include Structural Analysis and Design, Application of Finite element Method for structural design, RCC structures, Digital Architecture, Engineering design of implants and prosthesis, Application of Digital Methods in Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Mass customization and Building façade design.

Dr. Kulkarni has also worked on the development of Ferro cast structural components for mass and Low-cost housing and toilets. She has also worked on technology for LGS+Ferrocement composite construction. Her research interests also include Structural retrofitting using Composite wrapping systems.

She has published several research papers in various reputed international journals and conferences. Some of her notable publications include ""Healthcare for all in emerging countries: A preliminary investigation of facilities in Kolkata, India,"" ""Finite element analysis of mechanical behavior of SMP hip joint implanted in femur bone,"" ""Experimental determination of material properties of cortical cadeveric femur bone,"" ""Effect of isolated footing on fly ash subgrade reinforced with PET bottles: An experimental and analytical study,"" ""Fly Ash Based Subgrade Reinforced with Pet Bottles as Non-conventional Geocell: a 3D Finite Element Analysis,"" and ""Analysis of LGS-ferrocement composite construction technology as a cost-effective & sustainable alternative to RCC.""

Her expertise and research have been recognized by BCUD, Pune, and twice by IEEE SPS and AICTE. She has also completed the Executive Programme for Research and Cooperation-Indo Italian Project on Mass customisation and Building façade design.
