Bio
Dr. Mohit Awasthi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Peace Studies, with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and academic engagement in the field of peace and conflict studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Malaviya Centre for Peace Research, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He also completed his Master’s degree in Political Science and a Diploma in Statistics and Computing from BHU, which strengthened his analytical and research skills.
Dr. Awasthi was awarded the Senior Research Fellowship (UGC) under the UNESCO Chair for Peace and Intercultural Understanding at the Malaviya Centre for Peace Research, BHU. He was also a recipient of the prestigious Linnaeus–Palme International Fellowship (2020) at Karlstad University, Sweden, which facilitated international academic exchange and collaboration.
His research interests include Peace and Conflict Studies, Sufism, International Conflicts and Global Politics, Gandhian Thought and Nonviolence, Interfaith Dialogue, Multiculturalism, Intercultural Communication, Political Psychology, Cultural Diplomacy, and the role of spiritual traditions in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
Dr. Awasthi has presented research papers at several international conferences and has published articles in international peer-reviewed, and UGC-CARE listed journals. He is also associated with international academic networks and serves on the Advisory Board of the International Political Science Association (IPSA) Research Committee 44 on Security, Conflict and Democratization. His work broadly explores the intersections of spirituality, culture, and politics in advancing peace and dialogue in contemporary societies.
