Mr. Maisam Ali

Bio

Maisam Ali is an independent filmmaker with expertise in both short and feature films. He is a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), majoring in Film Direction. His short films have been exhibited and honoured in France, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and India. His feature film In Retreat was the first Indian film to be included in the ACID sidebar section at the Cannes Film Festival 2024, marking a 32-year milestone. The film was screened at the Busan International Film Festival, Sao Paulo Film Festival, Galway Film Festival, Moscow International Film Festival, and Mumbai Film Festival, among others. In addition, he has been teaching filmmaking at several institutions in India. He is presently overseeing Direction practices at Dadasaheb International Film School in the position of Assistant Professor.
