Faculty
Bio
Dr. Kumar Abhijeet Raj obtained his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. His doctoral research focused on the development of Viscoelastic Surfactant (VES) fracturing fluids for high- temperature reservoirs, integrating key parameters to enhance temperature stability and proppant- carrying capacity. As part of his study, he designed and conducted minifrac tests using specially formulated fracturing fluids and custom-built experimental setups to interpret critical fracturing parameters. He completed both his B.Tech and M.Tech also in Petroleum Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Dr. Abhijeet has also worked extensively on the synthesis, characterization, and application of natural bio-based surfactants for VES fracturing fluids, exploring their potential as environmentally sustainable alternatives in hydraulic fracturing. His research area includes Hydraulic Fracturing optimization, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), reservoir simulation and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage
Prior to joining MIT-WPU Dr. Abhijeet has worked in Presidency University and DIT University where He took core Petroleum Engineering subjects and mentored many students in accomplishing their goals. Currently he is teaching advance courses for post graduate students at MIT-WPU. He is also mentoring students for their research project.
