Bio

Dr. Jyotsna Srivastava holds a Ph.D. in Peace Research from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Her Ph.D. thesis asses existing forms of masculinities producing differential treatment for women migrants. The empirical part explores migrant women’s experiences with masculinity, division of labor, hierarchies, and the social conflict it produces. It was designed to convey the diverse experiences of women migrants in the varying masculinities present, building an alternative experiential knowledge system, stimulating the prevailing framework of gendered migration, and the role of masculinities in social-behavioral patterns during migration. She has qualified for UGC JRF-NET. She was awarded the Linnaeus Palme Scholarship issued by the Swedish International Development Agency during her research. She holds a master's degree in Conflict Management and Development. She has also attended the Summer Intensive Learning Course on: "Religion and Foreign Policy: Investigating Religious Minorities and Human Rights" at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She has published her research work in the UGC care list and peer-reviewed national and international journals. She has attended International and national workshops, conferences, and seminars sponsored by ICSSR, the Indian Sociological Society, UNESCO, and PRIO.
