Bio

Chinmay Bendre is a Senior Research Associate at the MIT School of Government, where he has been contributing for the past four years with a focus on legislative studies, and institutional accountability. He specializes in analysing parliamentary procedures, legislative reforms, and the intersection of law, policy, and democratic practice, helping students and practitioners understand the complexities of representative institutions in India.

In addition to his research, he actively engages in teaching and academic development. He teaches courses on Budget Making and Analysis, helping students understand fiscal policy and public finance in a practical context. He also contributes to curriculum development in areas such as public policy and research methodology, strengthening academic programs with a practice-oriented approach.

He is also invited to deliver guest lectures and workshops on Corporate Social Responsibility, where he connects theoretical frameworks with real-world policy and governance practices.

Chinmay has authored and co-authored multiple scholarly book chapters, including “Competing Influence: India’s Counterstrategies to China’s Manoeuvres”, “Republic of India in the 21st Century through the Words of His Excellency President”, “Breaking the Mold: Women’s Struggle for Political Voice in India”, and “India’s Evolving Landscape: Navigating Security, Identity, and Global Governance within the SDGs Framework”.

He has contributed editorials to leading publications including The Indian Express, The Hindu, Maharashtra Times, Sakal Times, and Deccan Herald, as well as opinion articles in The Leaflet, Mainstream Weekly, and The Kootneeti, addressing topics such as legislative procedures, anti-defection law, parliamentary accountability, and governance reforms.

Chinmay has also presented his research at national and international conferences, including the ICSSR-sponsored International Conference on Changing Dynamics of India’s Narrative Diplomacy, the International Conference on Navigating Inequality, Development and Sustainability in the Global South, the International Conference on Public Policy, and the National Conference on Local Governance in India @75. Through his research, publications, and public engagement, Chinmay Bendre is committed to strengthening legislative understanding, promoting effective governance, and fostering informed democratic participation.
