Dr. Atanu Hazarika

Bio

Dr. Atanu Hazarika is an Assistant Professor at the School of Business, MIT World Peace University in Pune, India. He is a Post-Doctoral Fellow from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The title of the Post Doctoral research is ‘Developing sustainability-related knowledge and capability for farmers, Case Study of an Irrigation Tank project’. The project is sponsored by the Hanns Seidel Stiftung foundation (HSS), Germany. His PhD has been awarded by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His doctoral research work has focused on the issues of productivity and efficiency of paddy farming in Assam. His attempts to develop an interdependence (multivariate) framework for measuring the adoption rate of multiple modern technology practices. Additionally, the study attempts to find the technical efficiency and allocative efficiency level of the farmers. In addition, he worked on several projects sponsored by national and international agencies like NOVOD, SANDEE, ICSSR, and NABARD during his PhD tenure. The projects experienced give an exposure to work in different domains like the adoption and expansion behaviour of the Jatropha farmers, the economic valuation of biodiesel, the evaluation of watershed programs, and the financial risk attitude of the handloom micro-entrepreneur. He has worked as a Guest Faculty at Tezpur University, Assam. His teaching interests are Micro-economics, Macro-economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Development Economics, Operations Research, and Mathematical Economics. His research interests lie in the areas of Economics of Decision Choice, Efficiency and Productivity Analyses, Biofuel, Supply Chain, and Economic Valuation.

Teaching Philosophy
As an educator, Dr. Hazarika envisages a highly participatory approach to learning and teaching. He is also comfortable collaborating with other faculty and endeavours to create an innovative research environment.
