Dr. Akshay Bura

Bio

Dr. Akshay Ramesh Bura is an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering with over 11 years of combined teaching and research experience at premier technical institutions in India. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, where his doctoral research focused on carbonation-induced corrosion behaviour of reinforced concrete, with particular emphasis on CO₂ sequestration, durability assessment, and electrochemical characterization techniques. He completed his M.Tech. in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where he investigated the influence of fly ash on the mechanical performance and chloride-induced corrosion of reinforced concrete. He holds a B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra.

His research experience includes postdoctoral work at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, contributing to advanced studies on low-carbon and durable cementitious materials. Dr. Bura has published extensively in reputed international journals, authored book chapters, and presented his research at leading national and international conferences. He is actively involved in sponsored and industry-oriented research proposals aligned with sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon infrastructure development.

Dr. Bura has served as Assistant Professor at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, and Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT), Pune. In recognition of his research excellence in corrosion science and durability of concrete structures, he was awarded the prestigious NACE Foundation India Scholarship (2021) by the NACE International Foundation, Houston, USA, conferred on promising young researchers for impactful contributions in corrosion engineering and materials durability.
