Mr. Abhaysinha Gunvantrao Shelake

Bio

Dr. Abhaysinha Gunvantrao Shelake is a dedicated Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University (MITWPU), Pune. With over ten years of teaching experience, he specializes in Construction Engineering and Management. He has completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering and M.E. in Construction and Management from Savitribai Phule Pune University. he earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University (MITWPU), Pune, titled "Development of a comprehensive framework in reducing delays for predictable risks." Dr. Shelake is actively engaged in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. His teaching portfolio includes key subjects like Project Management, Project Scheduling & Material Management, Earned Value Management, Project Risk Management, and Surveying & Geomatics at UG and PG level. His pedagogical approach combines practical knowledge with software applications, making use of advanced tools such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, REVIT, NAVISWORK, Microsoft Project, and Primavera. He is certified by Autodesk and holds credentials including a Six Sigma Green Belt, ISO 9001:2015 QMS Internal Auditor, and a Project Management Professional Plus (PMP+) certification from Simplilearn Academy. Throughout his academic career, he has guided over 24 postgraduate and undergraduate research projects. He has significantly contributed to curriculum development and academic coordination at MITWPU, holding roles such as Academic Coordinator and Website Coordinator. He is a core member of the Board of Studies Sub-Committee and the PMQIC Committee. He has also coordinated numerous national-level immersion programs and industrial visits to premier infrastructure projects, offering students valuable real-world exposure. His research primarily focuses on project risk management, scheduling delays, and the integration of advanced decision-making tools in construction management. His Ph.D. work has led to the development of innovative frameworks to improve delay prediction and mitigation in tunnel construction projects named as IRPAD (Integrated Risk Prioritization for Determination of Activity-wise Delay". He is also actively involved in exploring sustainable construction materials, the application of augmented and virtual reality, and the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies. He has published 18+ research papers in reputed international journals, including SCOPUS- and SCIE- indexed publications, and presented several papers in national and international conferences. Additionally, he has authored eight textbooks tailored for Civil Engineering programs under Savitribai Phule Pune University and Mumbai University. His authored books span topics such as Construction Management, Construction Safety, Smart Building Materials, and Airport & Bridge Engineering. A life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Dr. Shelake is committed to academic excellence, research innovation, and mentoring students toward industry-readiness.
