SLDP 2025 : Where Leaders Rise and Communities Thrive
Aug 06, 2025
MIT-WPU hosted the Social Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) 2025 from August 6-8, bringing together social leaders, innovators, and students to focus on community-driven change. The three-day programme featured experts from various fields sharing practical insights on leadership, environmental conservation, entrepreneurship, sustainable development and more.
Over these three transformative days, distinguished changemakers, social innovators, and passionate youth came together under the powerful banner of #CommunitiesForChange. What emerged was more than knowledge sharing; it was the birth of a movement that bridges ancient wisdom with modern solutions.
The programme began with inspiring words from Prof. Fernando Garibay, Founder and CEO of The Garibay Institute for Soft Power and Public Diplomacy, and Lt. Gen. Ajai Kumar Singh (Retd.), Member of the National Security Advisory Board. Their presence set the tone for what would become an unforgettable journey. Also, through powerful sessions on community empowerment and grassroots leadership, voices like Ms. Mukta Chaitanya (Digital Media Educator), Dr. Sanjay Upadhye (Motivational Speaker), Mr. Satyajit Bhatkal (CEO, Paani Foundation), and Ms. Ritu Pandram (Sarpanch, Sarbahara Village) painted vivid pictures of leadership that begins at the community level.
The second day brought together extraordinary minds in four transformative sessions. Ms. Chami Murmu, the Padma Shri Awardee known as the "Lady Tarzan of Jharkhand," shared her remarkable story alongside Mr. Shyam Sundar Paliwal from Piplantri Village, Ms. Amita Deshpande (Founder, reCharkha), and Mr. Pasha Patel (President, Phoenix Foundation). These sessions beautifully demonstrated how environmental stewardship, entrepreneurial innovation, and creative expression can weave together to create sustainable, thriving communities.
The final day emphasised the power of sustainable urbanisation and vocal-for-local initiatives. Distinguished speakers Mr. Vishwanath S. (urban planner and Water Policy Expert), Mr. Satyajit Hange (Co-Founder, Two Brothers Organic Farms), and Mr. Anand Malligavad (Lake Conservationist, "Lake Man of Bangalore") shared groundbreaking insights.
A defining moment came with Dr. Shailendra Devlankar's powerful address on PM Modi's Viksit Bharat vision, challenging students to become social ambassadors and contribute to national growth. The programme concluded with Shri Girish Kuber ji from Akhil Bhartiya Vanwasi Kalyan Ashram, who emphasised the beautiful blend of village wisdom with urban technology.
SLDP 2025 embodied MIT-WPU's core philosophy, creating transformative learning experiences that nurture compassionate, and socially sensitive leaders. This wasn't just a programme—it was a promise to the future, successfully bridging traditional wisdom with modern innovation while inspiring the next generation to drive meaningful change at the grassroots level.
