MIT-WPU Students Gain Hands-on Industry 4.0 Exposure at Mitsubishi Electric India

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, organised an industrial visit to Mitsubishi Electric India, Pune, for 34 final-year B.Tech Robotics and Automation students as part of the Industry 4.0 course. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial practices by providing students with first-hand exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies.

During the visit, students explored modern manufacturing processes, factory automation systems, and the complete Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing process. They gained valuable insights into automated assembly, inspection, testing, and quality assurance, enhancing their understanding of contemporary industrial operations.

A key highlight of the visit was witnessing the practical implementation of Kaizen and Poka-Yoke principles on the shop floor. Students observed how continuous improvement, error-proofing, quality assurance, and workplace safety are seamlessly integrated into day-to-day manufacturing processes. The visit also offered an opportunity to experience the discipline, teamwork, and operational excellence that define Japanese manufacturing practices.
