MIT-WPU Students Explore the Future of Industrial Automation at Automation Expo 2026
Jul 27, 2026
The ISA MIT-WPU Student Chapter under the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, organised an industrial visit to Automation Expo 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Mumbai, on 25 July 2026. The visit provided students with an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the latest advancements in industrial automation and smart manufacturing technologies.
A total of 29 students, accompanied by a faculty member, participated in the visit. During the expo, students explored cutting-edge innovations in Industrial Automation, Robotics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Smart Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Industry 4.0. They also interacted with industry experts, witnessed live technology demonstrations, and engaged with representatives from over 100 leading automation companies, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial practices.
The visit offered valuable experiential learning by providing insights into digital transformation, intelligent manufacturing, process optimisation, and emerging trends that are shaping the future of automation engineering. The interactions and demonstrations enabled students to better understand the practical applications of advanced technologies in modern industries.
Coordinated by Dr. Rahul Jagtap, Faculty Advisor of the ISA MIT-WPU Student Chapter, the industrial visit reflects MIT-WPU's commitment to outcome-based education by fostering experiential learning, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and preparing students with the practical knowledge and professional skills required to excel in the rapidly evolving field of automation engineering.
