MIT-WPU Hosts Expert Session on Total Productive Maintenance for Mechanical Engineering Students

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT-WPU, Pune, organised an expert guest lecture on “Design & Manufacturing: Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)” for second-year Mechanical Engineering students. Held at the Vashishtha Building on campus, the session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practices in modern manufacturing.

The session was conducted by Mr. Ganesh Pawar, Founder of TPM Mastery Hub, Pune, who brings nearly two decades of professional experience across Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Tier-1 multinational companies, and domestic manufacturing organisations. Drawing on his extensive industry expertise, he introduced students to the principles of Total Productive Maintenance and its role in improving manufacturing efficiency and operational performance.

During the session, Mr. Pawar highlighted how TPM contributes to enhancing equipment reliability, increasing productivity, minimising machinery breakdowns, reducing defects, and strengthening workplace safety. He also emphasised the importance of employee involvement, teamwork, practical problem-solving, and continuous improvement in achieving manufacturing excellence.

The interactive lecture provided students with insights into real-world maintenance strategies and industrial challenges, encouraging them to understand the significance of proactive equipment management and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Approximately 120 students participated in the session, gaining valuable exposure to industry-oriented approaches that complement their classroom learning and strengthen their understanding of contemporary manufacturing processes.

The session was coordinated by Prof. Nitinkumar Anekar and Prof. S. A. Dyane from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MIT-WPU.
