MIT-WPU Hosts ASHRAE Technical Session on Sustainable Building Technologies and HVAC Career Opportunities

The ASHRAE Student Branch at MIT-WPU, Pune, in association with the ASHRAE Pune Chapter, successfully organised the first ASHRAE Technical Session of the academic year 2026–27. The event brought together engineering students, faculty members, industry professionals, and HVACR consultants to promote technical knowledge exchange, professional development, and industry–academia collaboration.

The technical programme featured two expert-led sessions focusing on sustainable building practices and career opportunities in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) industry.

Mr. Praveen Kumar, IGBC Accredited Professional (IGBC AP), delivered a session on “Role of Building Performance Analysis in IGBC Green Building Rating.” He highlighted the significance of building performance analysis in sustainable construction, energy efficiency, and green building assessment, offering insights into the growing importance of environmentally responsible infrastructure.

The second session, “HVAC Career Pathways & ASHRAE Design Competition: Success Story,” was conducted by Mr. Ganesh Gund, ASHRAE Certified HVAC Designer. He shared insights into emerging career opportunities in the HVAC industry, professional skill development, and the role of ASHRAE Design Competitions in encouraging innovation and nurturing future engineering professionals.

The sessions provided students with practical perspectives on sustainable building technologies, HVACR applications, and evolving industry requirements. Through expert interactions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how theoretical engineering concepts translate into real-world applications.

The event witnessed participation from ASHRAE student members representing Symbiosis Institute of Technology, SVERI's College of Engineering, Pandharpur, Orchid College, Solapur, and Cummins College of Engineering for Women. Their participation strengthened inter-institutional engagement, collaborative learning, and professional networking among aspiring engineers.
