Honoring the Visionary: National Youth Day Celebrations at MIT-WPU

On the 164th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the MIT-WPU Pune, community gathered in a spirited celebration of National Youth Day. The event served as a powerful tribute to a legacy that continues to ignite the minds of millions, reaffirming Vivekananda’s timeless vision for a vibrant, character-driven generation.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Milind Patre, Department of Peace Studies, MIT-WPU, Pune, setting the context for the day’s reflections. This was followed by an insightful address by Dr. R. M. Chitnis, Vice-Chancellor, MIT-WPU, Pune, who highlighted the enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy in contemporary education and nation-building.

Mr. Sanjay Upadhye, Mentor and Chief Advisor, MIT-WPU, Pune, also shared insightful perspectives on youth leadership, national progress, and the continuing significance of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals in developing responsible global citizens.

A major highlight of the event was the reflective presentations by nine student speakers, who eloquently interpreted Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts and values in the context of present-day challenges and aspirations. In appreciation of their impactful contributions, the students were felicitated by Dr. Rahul V. Karad, Executive President, MIT-WPU, Pune.

The event was further enriched by a deeply motivating address by Revered Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad, Founder President, MIT-WPU, Pune, who emphasised that the harmonious integration of science and humanity is essential for achieving lasting peace and progress.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Bhagwat Ishwar Biradi, Assistant Professor, MIT-WPU, Pune. Through such initiatives, MIT-WPU continues to uphold its commitment to blending academic excellence with strong ethical and spiritual values, nurturing socially responsible leaders guided by the enduring ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
