Honoring the Guardians of Peace: Police Raising Week 2026 at MIT-WPU, Pune

MIT-WPU, Pune, proudly honoured the courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment of our Police Force on the occasion of Police Raising Week 2026 on Wednesday, 8th January 2026, at our campus. This programme was graced by the distinguished presence of Shri Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Pune along with Dr. R M Chitnis (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Prasad D. Khandekar (Chief Academic Officer), Mr. Ganesh Pokale (Registrar), along with the students and staff from MIT-WPU. During this event, the university community came together to salute these real-life heroes whose dedication goes beyond duty and whose sacrifices often remain unseen.

Guided by the motto ‘सद्रक्षणाय खलनिग्रहणाय’—which defines the Maharashtra Police Force since its establishment on 2nd January 1960—the celebration served as a bridge between law enforcement and the youth. Designed to provide students with a unique look into the complexities of police operations, the event featured a comprehensive range of informative sessions and live demonstrations, including :

  • Vigilance & Surveillance : A display of the ‘Drishti’ van, showcasing the advanced technology used for real-time vigilance and city monitoring.
  • Tactical Exhibition : An exhibition of arms and equipment, offering a rare insight into the precision and preparedness of the force.
  • Safety & Empowerment : Dedicated stalls for women’s safety and self-defence, providing students with practical knowledge and tools for personal security.
  • Interactive Dialogue : Direct engagement with officers to understand the resilience and integrity required to maintain peace and harmony in society.

These interactions showcased the profound dedication of the force, inspiring our campus to stand united in our civic responsibilities. The energy and curiosity demonstrated by the students, coupled with the transparent exchange of knowledge by the police personnel, made the day truly impactful.

We extend our deepest gratitude and respect to those who serve tirelessly. Their perspectives and bravery are instrumental in shaping our community, and by safeguarding us today, they are ensuring a safer and more secure tomorrow for all.
