Jan 24, 2025
On 24th January 2025, MIT-WPU's Atri Lawns came alive with the vibrant International Food Festival ‘Flavours of the World’, a culinary celebration that brought together sixteen countries in a spectacular showcase of global cuisine. Inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr.R.M Chitnis, Pro-Vice Chancellor Mr. Milind Pande, and Registrar Ganesh Pokale the event was organised by the Department of International Affairs led by Dr.Nirupama Kocherlakota supported by Trinity Study Abroad, Imperial Overseas Education Consultants, and Joyful Safari creating a remarkable platform for cultural exchange.
The International Food Festival was a sensory journey that transported visitors across continents through an incredible array of vegetarian delicacies. International students became culinary ambassadors, preparing and serving authentic dishes from Bangladesh, Nepal, South Sudan, Kenya, Iran, Nigeria,Tanzania, Uganda, and beyond. Each plate told a unique story of tradition and connection.
Visitors including MIT-WPU students and staff, savoured an extraordinary menu featuring Kenyan Kericho Apple Iced Tea, Nepali Selroti and Soyabean Choila, Liberian rice and Okra stew, and delightful sweet milk candies. The Atri Lawns resonated with African beats and energy, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrated the richness of global cultures.
More than just a food event, this International Food Festival embodied MIT-WPU's commitment to global understanding. It demonstrated that diversity is not about differences but about celebration and connection. The overwhelming response proved that when cultures come together, something truly magical happens.
At MIT-WPU, we don't just acknowledge cultural diversity - we celebrate it. The International Food Festival was a powerful reminder that we are far more connected than we are different, bringing students together through the universal language of food.
