Commemorating the Commencement of the 20th Year of Excellence at MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG)
Commemorating the Commencement of the 20th Year of Excellence at MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG)

As MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) steps into its 20th year, we reflect on the extraordinary journey that began in 2005. Over the past 19 years, MIT-SOG has remained steadfast in its mission of cultivating ethical, passionate, and committed political leaders. Founded by Shri. Rahul V. Karad, Executive President-MIT-WPU, MIT-SOG has been dedicated to nurturing governance that drives positive societal change and developing leaders who serve with integrity and purpose.

Since its inception, MIT-SOG has provided countless opportunities for young aspiring leaders, many of whom have gone on to hold prominent positions in the political arena. These individuals reflect the core values instilled in them during their time at MIT-SOG, and we take great pride in their contributions to society. Their achievements are a testament to the transformative education they received at our institution.

MIT-SOG’s success is built upon the support and encouragement of prominent leaders from across the political spectrum. Since 2005, influential figures such as L.K. Advani, Sharad Pawar, Nitin Gadkari, Shashi Tharoor, Tiruchi Siva, Dr. Rajiv Gowda, Jai Prakash Narayan, and Ambil Mahesh Poyyamozhi have shared their experiences and insights with our students. Despite initial criticism, several visionary leaders, including former Election Commissioner T.N. Seshan, offered their unwavering support to the school, further validating its purpose.

As we celebrate the commencement of our 20th year, we also mark the inauguration of the 20th batch of the Master’s in Political Leadership and Government (MPG) programme. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Hon’ble Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, who highlighted the critical role of public service in addressing societal challenges. We were also honored to have the Chief Guest of Honor, Dr. C.P. Joshi, Former Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj, and Former Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, along with Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Hon'ble Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, who provided invaluable insights to the newly inducted batch.

Revered Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder-President of MIT-WPU and our guiding inspiration, graced the event with his presence. He reinforced the importance of upholding Indian culture and values in leadership, reminding us of the principles of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) and Hindavi Swarajya (self-rule as envisioned by our nation’s forefathers). His words resonated deeply, as he emphasized the need for future leaders to embody these ideals in their work and service to the nation. Shri Rahul V. Karad echoed this sentiment, calling on educated and ethical individuals to enter politics and contribute to improving the nation’s governance systems.

During this significant occasion, the dignitaries also released a commemorative coffee table book from the National Legislators Conference, Bharat (NLC, Bharat), adding to the celebratory spirit of the event.

As we look ahead, MIT-SOG remains committed to its vision of shaping leaders who will leave a lasting impact on society. We celebrate the achievements of the past 19 years and embrace the future with renewed determination to create dynamic, transformative political leaders.
