MIT-WPU, Pune, organised an Eco-Friendly Ganpati Idol Making Workshop, bringing together tradition, creativity, environmental responsibility and experiential learning.

Celebrating the cultural significance of Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra, the workshop provided participants from diverse states and cultural backgrounds an opportunity to come together, learn the art of making Ganpati idols using natural clay, and celebrate the festival while embracing sustainable practices.

The workshop also aligned with the principles of NEP 2020, encouraging experiential and value-based learning beyond the classroom. Participants gained hands-on experience while developing greater awareness of environmental responsibility and the importance of sustainable celebrations.

The initiative contributed to awareness around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, and Life on Land. It also fostered cultural exchange and inclusivity, with students from different regions participating enthusiastically in the activity.

The campus came alive with creativity and festive spirit as participants shaped their own eco-friendly idols, demonstrating how traditional celebrations can be reimagined through sustainable practices.

MIT-WPU extends its appreciation to Prof. Jyoti Tekale, who organised and conducted the workshop, for her guidance and efforts in making sustainability engaging and accessible.
