A visit to Sarole (Khurd) Village, Nashik

As part of MIT-WPU's Rural Immersion Programme, female students from SY BBA IB visited Sarole (Khurd) village, Nashik from 1st to 5th April 2025. During this immersion programme, these students engaged directly with the rural community, bridging academic concepts with ground realities. The students conducted a comprehensive household survey and interacted with key village authorities, including the Sarpanch and Village Development Officer, gaining valuable insights into governance, resource allocation, and local development challenges. They also visited places like a poultry farm, Shri Gajanan Sarole (Khurd) Socio-Cooperative Society and Dhanalakshmi Agricultural Agency that enriched their understanding of rural entrepreneurship, financial mechanisms for farmers, and the agricultural support system.

Through this immersive experience, students identified critical challenges such as the absence of immediate medical assistance, lack of participation of women in the governance of the village, dependency on natural resources for farming, lack of risk management and debt pressure on farmers. With this exposure to issues at the grass-root level, these students not only developed problem-solving, leadership and communication skills but also demonstrated empathy and social responsibility by conveying these issues to village authorities.

This immersion was conducted under the guidance of MIT-WPU's School of Business (SOB) Dean Dr. Deependra Sharma, Associate Dean Dr. Swati Bankar, and Prof. Shweta Deshpande. During this programme the students were empowered with critical thinking, leadership, and empathy while addressing real grass-root challenges, transforming them into socially responsible professionals equipped with practical problem-solving skills.
