A visit to Hivare Bazar, Ahmednagar
Feb 07, 2025
The Rural Immersion Programme 2025 was a transforming experience for MIT-WPU students offering a unique window into rural life and community development in Hivare Bazar, Ahmednagar. Complementing MIT-WPU's dedication to academic achievement, social responsibility, and holistic learning, the programme sought to link theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world experience.
Day 1
Once at Hivare Bazar, students visited a neighbouring school. Young students from the school received drawing and stationery packages, which sparked imagination as they used art to express themselves. From painting to outdoor sports like Kabaddi and Dodgeball, the interesting workshops showed how little acts of kindness can affect young brains.
Later, students visited a neighbouring hilltop where they had an evening session with Padma Shri Popatrao Pawar, the village Sarpanch. He outlined the transformation of the drought- stricken region into a sustainable development model, highlighting the significance of visionary leadership and grassroots-level transformation.
Day 2
The next day started with a calm morning walk wherein students savoured the peace of the rural surroundings and life outside of city distractions. Students then set upon an extensive tour of the community. They saw sustainable techniques and conventional ways like the hand-pump system run by communities that provide groundwater. This interactive event highlighted environmental stewardship, creativity, and independence as well as resourcefulness.
The Rural Immersion Programme vividly reflected the values of MIT-WPU. The university clearly emphasises its commitment toward producing well-rounded professionals and leaders by supporting projects combining community involvement with academic education.
Key MIT-WPU ideals were reinforced by the programme :
- Holistic Education :The project highlighted how comprehensive education goes beyond classroom learning and incorporates practical and artistic experiences fostering well-rounded growth.
- Powerful Leadership : Echoing the leadership values maintained by MIT-WPU, the story of Hivare Bazar's development showed how well sustainable practices and good governance can bring about impactful change.
- Community and Simplicity : Observing the daily activities and customs in the village helped students to appreciate community-driven development and the need for a resource economy.
- Personal Growth : The immersion trip pushed students to go outside their comfort zones, therefore cultivating a strong feeling of social responsibility and appreciation fit for MIT-WPU's aim of nurturing globally aware citizens.
