Ms. Jothimani Sennimalai, widely known simply as Jothimani, is an Indian politician, writer, and social worker from Karur, Tamil Nadu. She came into public life at a remarkably early age, driven by a commitment to social justice and grassroots democratic participation. She graduated from Sri G.V.G. Visalakshi College for Women, Udumalaipet, and later earned an MA and an M.Phil. from Annamalai University.

Ms. Jothimani's political career began at the panchayat level. She was elected Councillor of the K. Paramarthi Panchayat Union in 1996 and served for two consecutive terms until 2006. During this period, she simultaneously rose through the ranks of the Indian National Congress, serving as Vice President of Tamil Nadu Youth Congress (2006–2008), a member of the Tamil Nadu Censor Board (2006–2009), and General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress (2009–2012). In 2019, she became the first-ever Congresswoman-parliamentarian elected from the Karur Lok Sabha constituency, defeating veteran AIADMK leader M. Thambidurai. She was re-elected in the 2024 General Elections with an even more resounding mandate, having recorded an attendance rate of 95% in Parliament, well above the national average.

Ms Jothimani, as a parliamentarian, is known to actively participate in debates and vociferously advocate the rights of the marginalised communities, women and rural constituents. She has personally visited thousands of villages within her constituency to stay connected with grassroots concerns. She is also a prolific writer, having authored several books, including Chitirakoodu, Ottarai Vasanai and Neer Prakummun. Fluent in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and English, she is widely regarded as a powerful voice for inclusive democratic representation.
