Profile

Parimal Hiralal Karani is a Nineteen Seventy-Five-batch IIT Civil Engineering graduate with early periodic exposure at the Bombay Port Trust, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, and the Klanchanjunga Project—designed by architect Charles Correa, engineered by Shirish Patil, and constructed by Larsen & Toubro’s subsidiary, ECC.

Upon completing his Bachelor of Technology programme, he began his journey in the field, initially by undertaking modest assignments in South Oman. Then followed a couple of years with a well-established development and construction company in Dubai, led by a dynamic Chief Engineer and supported by several highly experienced senior professionals. Their mentorship opened up opportunities to get involved in the Structural design and Construction supervision of a range of residential and industrial projects.

Parimal subsequently ventured into the business of Internal and External Building finishes, executing work for several prestigious and iconic projects across the Middle East. This gradually expanded into similar activities such as landscaping and streetscaping, supported by establishing facilities for the design, fabrication, and installation of a variety of stone and timber products. With the support of United States Gypsum (USG), he is also among the first in the region who actively promoted the use of plasterboard in local markets.

More than Five decades of Entrepreneurship, have involved extensive travel across Europe, the USA, and the Far East, providing continuous opportunities for learning, and exposure to evolving technologies and practices.

Fortunately, a few fellow IITians later engineered a “Back to School” opportunity, enabling him to mentor a new generation of young entrepreneurs. Among them were several bright innovators who have pioneered the indigenous use of 3D-printed concrete.

This journey of learning, sharing knowledge, entrepreneurship, and mentoring continues with the aspiration to collectively scale new heights and contribute meaningfully to the next generation.
