Pharmaceutical Sciences Students Enhance Clinical Skills Through 3-Day Clinical Training Programme

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Health Sciences & Technology, MIT- WPU, Pune successfully organised a 3-Day Clinical Training Programme from 7 to 9 April 2026 at the Skills Laboratory, Vishwaraj Institute of Nursing, Loni Kalbhor, Pune.
The programme was designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to essential clinical procedures, patient care practices, and emergency response techniques. Conducted by experienced clinical instructors and nursing faculty members, the training combined theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations and supervised learning.
On the first day, students received training in cardiac care and ECG interpretation, where they learned to analyse ECG patterns and identify critical cardiac abnormalities. The sessions also included practical training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), focusing on chest compressions, airway management, and emergency response protocols.
The second day was dedicated to obstetric and neonatal care, providing participants with valuable insights into maternal and newborn healthcare. The sessions highlighted essential clinical practices, patient safety measures, and timely interventions in maternal and neonatal settings.
The final day focused on clinical procedures and emergency care skills, with special emphasis on aseptic techniques and patient safety. Students gained hands-on experience in administering Intramuscular (IM), Intradermal (ID), and Subcutaneous (SC) injections, while also reinforcing their understanding of medication administration and emergency care practices.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sujit Kumar Sah and Dr. Jehath Syed, Assistant Professors, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Health Sciences & Technology, MIT-WPU.
Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and supervised practical training, the programme enhanced students' clinical competencies and provided valuable exposure to real-world healthcare practices, contributing to their professional development as future healthcare professionals.
